As you review the “Key Terms” in this chapter, you will note that “conflict” has many negative connotations. However, some conflict is actually good for a workplace and an organization. This type of conflict is known as “functional conflict,” as opposed to the type of conflict detailed in this chapter, which is known as “dysfunctional conflict.” Describe situations in which conflicts would be helpful to a workplace and an organization.
