Module 2 Introduction: (CU2 M2) Earthquakes
Earthquakes are extreme hazards that occur with little warning but a study of their properties and how to identify their basic components can help one to better understand the consequences of such events. Though they cannot be accurately predicted, their possible locations and magnitude can be inferred based on historical evidence and current plate tectonic settings. In this Module you will learn about the various waves associated with earthquakes, how to find the location and magnitude of earthquakes based on readings from seismographs, and the types of hazards that can occur during an earthquake.
