SCORM Modules
This module is designed to illustrate to the healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic, the use of Continuous Quality Improvement and Total Quality Management tools. This is accomplished through the presentation of illustrated case studies that show various healthcare professionals and staff working as a team and using seven CQI/TQM tools to direct their resolution. Students are asked to respond to each scenario by giving their input to the team.
This module begins with an overview of the purpose of journaling. The student is guided through the process of journaling, including the ability to ask themselves the right questions to focus on a behavioral goal.
This module is designed to enhance and illustrate the steps to be taken by healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on measuring and interpreting electrocardiogram rhythm strips. This is accomplished by presenting EKG rhythm strips for the healthcare student to determine the rate and rhythm, and presence or absence of the P wave, PR interval, and QRS complex. Feedback is given indicating the reason for the interpretation of the strip.
This module is designed to enhance and illustrate HIPAA’s Protected Health Information (PHI) rules for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. This is accomplished through video scenarios that show how various healthcare professionals are responsible for following and enforcing the HIPAA law. Students are asked to respond to each scenario to determine their knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations including recognition of HIPAA violations and demonstration of corrective actions.
This module is designed to enhance and illustrate basic physical assessment for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. Seven simulations, each focused on a different body system, present basic physical assessment situations. Students are asked to respond in order to determine their knowledge and skill. A quick overview of each of the seven body systems is presented followed by case studies.
- This module is designed to enhance and illustrate basic first aid for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. This is accomplished through nine illustrated simulations that show individuals needing basic first aid. Students are asked to respond to each simulation to determine their knowledge of basic first aid guidelines and processes.
- This module is designed to enhance and illustrate therapeutic communication for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. This is accomplished through video scenarios that show various healthcare professionals communicating therapeutically and non-therapeutically. Students are asked to respond to each scenario to determine their knowledge of therapeutic techniques.
- This module is designed to enhance and illustrate Just in Time Patient Teaching for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. This is accomplished through seven video scenarios that show various healthcare professionals using the five-step process to teach a patient. Each scenario focuses on specific patient needs and models the proper way to educate patients. Students are asked to respond to each scenario to determine their knowledge of patient teaching.
- This module is designed to enhance and illustrate standard precautions for healthcare students who have received initial instruction or information on this topic. An introduction is provided that illustrates the impact of failure to follow standard precautions, including the risk of healthcare workers contracting a disease or illness and the associated rising cost of healthcare. This is accomplished through video scenarios that illustrate how various healthcare professionals and other individuals can easily violate standard precautions, thus potentially spreading an infection. Students are asked to respond to each scenario to determine their knowledge of standard precautions, including proper disposal, order of donning and doffing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and general use of PPE required for specific microorganisms.
