Computer Literacy and Retrieval Skills

Introduction

It will be necessary that you are familiar with computers in order to navigate through this program.  You will be using computer technology not only to complete this course, but also for testing, for research, and in the healthcare environment.

The ability to use computers in healthcare has many advantages.  There is improved charting and ordering ability for charting of patient information, physician orders, laboratory and diagnostic testing.  Computers may also decrease the errors associated with handwritten charting and ordering and also decrease the chances of medication administration and treatment errors.
