Practical Nursing 1

The Nursing Related Core course is designed for students who are interested in nursing related long-term programs. It is a prerequisite for practical nursing, medical assistant, and surgical technology. A clinical component is included with Nursing Fundamentals I.

This will be accomplished through the study of:

• Nursing fundamentals I
• Body structure and function
• Medical terminology
• Computer literacy
• Medications and math

28.0 Demonstrate computer literacy as related to nursing functions.
29.0 Use appropriate verbal and written communications in the performance of nursing functions.
30.0 Demonstrate legal and ethical responsibilities specific to the nursing profession.
32.0 Apply the principles of infection control, utilizing nursing principles.
33.0 Perform aseptic techniques.
34.0 Describe the anatomy and physiology of the human body.
37.0 Administer medication.
